Daily Dose: Silo No.5

I was in the Old Port on Friday and decided to stop through and check out the old Silo No. 5 that stands tall along the Montreal skyline. This is a massive facility, spanning almost half a kilometer and over 60 meters high with 206 silos in three different structures. Apparently there are talks between Heritage Montreal, the city and businesses to try to restore or preserve the structure for its significance to the industrial and shipping history of the city and region. At the moment it's abandoned, fenced off, and for the most part not in use. Although when I was walking around there was power to several buildings, lights, and ventilation fans running. I also found a few cameras in the back end that made me adjust my approach to the area.

I didn't get in as all the doors were welded shut, at least as far as I could see. In all my years flicking I just never made to this area or inside this structure. Now that I know where to get in I'll be stopping through more often, to grab flicks of the area and explore at the very least. If I get into this monster I'll be sure to document the hell out of it, that's for sure. And I don't know what happened but I had a great shot of a Near Dawsr collab that seems to have disappeared. Apologies. I'll post it next time I pass though if its still there.

Got a few nice flicks though. Mostly stuff from last year. Besides a couple of the pieces I really liked the enormity of the structure and grounds of the facility. I'd love to get into this place to see its innards, and when I do get in I'm going to make sure not to miss a thing. I'll post more in the future when I get a chance to stop by again. I`m sure that this spot has had its fair share of graff but from this visit I didn't see a whole lot. Most likely there is plenty inside this beast. Enjoy these few flicks for now.  More in the future.

Daily Dose: In & Around the last bit

Apologies for the break in the daily dose, life is busy. I didn't get around on the streets that much this past weekend. But here are a few pics, some recent, some not, from all over the place. I found a few previously hidden to me locations in some unlikely areas, maybe not the most vibrant of spots but some pretty interesting shots. Also a few I have to go back and revisit. I like to get great shots of rooftops and hard to get to spots but not at the risk of being ticketed, getting myself in a jam, or baiting the spot. I got a few posts this week to drop that I know you're all going to like, a couple of which are from the vault. Enjoy these for now and more soon.

Daily Dose: Plateau Shots

So here are a fe random shots from the other day, caught a nice Labrona paste on my way to my buddy's place to move him and a few other things. The nice weather is back in effect for a little before fall moves on in so you can't go wrong with sidewalk chilling. There are some rooftop spots I've been watching for a little bit, sharpening my knives and gettign ready to flick them proper but it just seems like the timing and conditions are never right. In any case I hope to get them soon and drop another mad rooftop edition at some point. In any case check these fwe flicks for now and more to come soon.

 More soon, lots more soon.

Here & There: June 2012

Summer is in full swing and the streets are on fire. Lot's of activity out there. I've been cooling my heels and taking time with some family in town lately so I haven't been able to go through most of my new stuff. Here are some recent pics I've put together from the streets, TA wall and factory, Stinkys, and and just about anywhere else I've been traveling. Still getting those rooftops as much as possible but some access points are getting a little heavy to negotiate. In any case enjoy this hodgepodge of pics from various spots.

The upper TA Wall was buffed entirely again. I'm still not sure what kind of strategy this is for the city, or the MTQ to manage the area. There has also been an increased police presence in the area and I have heard of several incidents where the police either stopped or arrested writers in the area over the last month or so. The bottom section of the wall has been untouched. The buff only goes till the junction box area by the far pylons before you descend to the lower wall area. I've even seen a MTQ truck cruise through as I was entering last Friday. Again, I'm not too sure what the city or the MTQ is trying to accomplish here considering the last time they tried this strategy was August of 2009 when the entire upper and lower wall area was buffed, and that was largely unsuccessful. The lower wall and factory remain active.

Solid productions by Otek and Apash, as well as Oser and Fleo as of recent at the TA Wall. I'm also digging a lot of the action in the factory as of late. Lots of bright colors and funky styles. And speaking of access issues, check out this shot I got from the back of Sex Cite. I was about to check the spot to get some rooftop action but was stopped by a stair cage wrapped in razor wire! I've seen enough of this stuff in New York City, but not a lot here, if ever for that matter. Needless to say I didn't get up on the rooftop and can imagine that as long as the razor wire is hanging about this area that I won't anytime soon. I'm not even sure if this is legal in Montreal and have had difficulty locating any information on the city websites on the issue. If anyone knows then message me some details.

More soon, stay posted.
