Daily dose: TA Wall & Factory

I haven't dropped an update on TA for a little while, and I pass through there on a pretty regular basis so I figured one was due. The upper wall area has all but been flattened since the buff campaign started up a few months ago. The city (or whoever) started piling giant mounds of used asphalt along the upper wall that have been used partly to level out the area. The walls remain mostly grey except for a few tags, hollows and the odd piece here and there. Writing hasn't stopped at the upper part of TA, it's just pretty quiet. Though I suspect that soon enough this area will be active again

The rest of the area, lower wall and factory are still pretty active with new stuff popping up on the regular. I heard another rumor starting out that the factory was going to get demolished in the next month. I've heard that pretty much every year since I started taking pics of it and it's still there, so we'll see about the veracity of that claim. if the building is going demolished or pulled then there certainly is not a whole lot of preparing going on. Here are the rest of my shots from the day, more soon.

Stay posted.

Heros de ton enface: Fonkee @Boutique Panache

I went out to go see the Fonkee show "Heros de ton enface" at Boutique Panache on St. Denis this past Friday. It was a great show with a nice mix of work displaying his range of ability from drawing, photography, and canvass work. There were a good number of pieces up of a variety of sizes and color and the chill atmosphere of the boutique made for a nice venue. I thought that this was a solid show, the place was packed, good beats and conversations, and the alcohol was flowing.

The main attraction of the expo was a series of five spray painted canvasses of child hood heroes: Pele, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Diego Maradona, and Dylan 'Jays' Ford. Iconic figures that have inspired and challenged Fonkee to improve as a writer, artist, and person. Each portrait was painted in black and white spray paint with colored backgrounds except for Dylan Ford's that was completed in full color. Legal contributed some handstyles in the background that really made the portrait a solid centerpiece for the series and the exhibit.

He was also selling some of his new t-shirts that you can pick up at the boutique too. Here's a video of them being made. I didn't get a tonne of pictures but here are the rest of what I got. It was a great show and party, the pieces will be up for the remainder of the month. Stop on through Boutique Panache at 3933 rue Saint Denis to check out everything in the flesh and see the boutique's wares. I'll be dropping big posts soon.

Rooftop Edition: Vol 2

I got the chance to flick a few more rooftops at the beginning of the month. I wanted to lock down a couple of spots along St Caths, particularly above Sex Cite and Super Sex. I was able to get up above Super Sex, but the rooftop above Sex Cite required a little more foot work and the shitty boots, wind, and ice didn't make for the best combination for a rooftop escapade. In any case I think I got me some pretty solid shots of the area. The last time I went up was easily a few years ago so it was nice to get re-aquainted with that upper part of the city.

Again, these are shots only from a few select locations in and around St Caths and St Laurent. I know there are plenty of spots out there, and believe me, I'll get to them in time. And when I do I will most definitely be posting them up here. I tossed in a couple from TA too, for the RIPs to Mitch and Dylan. And some of these aren't really rooftops, but they are close enough, high up at the top of stairwells and such. Regardless, if it's high up there, it's gonna get represented.

Lots of nice stuff up there too, some of it going back easily a few years. There were some shots I wasn't able to fit into the last rooftop post so I threw them into the mix here  which is why some of these shots look from a few months back. These are some great spots with cool views of the city and streets too. Here are the rest of my most recent rooftop shots.

I got some juicy stuff from the streets and some goodies from the vault to let out so stay posted. I also attended the Monk-e exhibit at Sino Shop on Friday night so I'll be posting on that shortly.
